Website of the Month: Criminal law

Criminal law is probably what you think about first when you think of the law, right? No surprise, especially with all the criminal law TV shows and all the junk we’re inundated with on the news.

This month’s website will help satisfy your cravings for information about all things criminal law. And if you’re also a freelance writer, you might get some ideas about how to set up a great website for an attorney.

This particular site is specific to the law firm of a Los Angeles Criminal lawyer, but much of the information is relevant no matter where you live (in this country, at least). No matter the crime someone is accused of, everyone deserves a fair trial (in my opinion). Even though I once wanted to be a prosecutor, I know that defense attorneys are essential to an eventually fair justice system.

Take a look a the site and let us know what you think. If you’ve started contacting attorneys to write for, let us know that too.

Deserves a fair trial is right. But I was just going through their site, and to tell you the truth – I have a feeling that these attorneys are going to burn in hell. :)

Occasionally I look here by and read the interesting and well written contributions. Today I would like to leave gladly a greeting from Thuringia in Germany!

It truly is amazing how dependent the world has become on the internet in so short a time. It’s almost hard to imagine the world without it nowadays.

  4. I hope the justice system gets reformed. The death penalty is wrong in most cases.

  5. Thanks for the suggestion. Are you saying a can’t learn all about criminal law by watching law & order reruns?

Well, I’d have to completely disagree with “getting ideas” from the home page which I left almost immediately.

Clearly it was written and designed for nothing other than search engines giving little to no thought to the “human” visitors who arrive there.

The text was written around lists and rows of keywords and phrases and reads poorly IMO. The substance of it is an afterthought with the primary concern being stuffing the page.

Sorry, but I’d use it as an example of what not to do.

  8. I too feel that everyone desrves a free trial. I too found the website great and well strucutured being a writer.

  9. As the Archibald Macleish quote: “Freedom is the right to one’s dignity as a man.” – exquisite work, keep it up!!!

  10. Some attorneys defend to protect the innocent. Some will not accept the obviously guilty. Some will defend for the money. Some will defend for a variety of reasons. The sad part is that the innocent are often prosecuted and forced to exhaust all their assets to regain their freedom. Where is the justice in that ?

  11. Also, sometimes the guilty are permitted to not prosecuted, because of backlogs of cases, because they cannot be kept in overcrowded jails too long, or because of police misconduct and a bunch of other reasons. Where is the justice in that ?

  12. As a freelance published legal writer I have to say that everyone has a right to a good criminal defense even the tragic cases.

  13. I agree with you Theda. It certainly wouldn’t be an easy job but everyone has the right to a fair trial and Criminal Lawyers are very important to this process.
