Getting leads for your business

I think that one of the most important parts of a freelancing business is generating viable leads. I’ve done my share of cold emailing and cold calling, and that’s definitely one way to get leads. Perusing the classifieds for companies that are looking to hire permanent people with my skills is another.
Recently I found a web site that offers to find leads for your business to business telemarketing needs. It might be worth it to take a look at their services if you’re looking to build your business.
Have you tried a lead generating service like The Lead Dogs? If you haven’t, would you? Why or why not?

I clicked on that link, and I read their About Us page, and I like their sense of humor. They say they’re the ‘Lead Dogs’ cause if you’re not the lead dog in a pack, then all you get to see is another dog’s behind. So…Mine is the first comment here, and all anyone who posts after me is getting to see is my comments’ behind.

LOL! I’m going to have to post again soon just to see what you’ll say.
what is old emailing and cold calling…?
@Triphow Ling:Lol
Hi! I hope I didn’t have the typo “old emailing” in there! LOL! But I have tried cold calling businesses to offer my writing services, and I’ve also sent out cold email queries. Is that what you mean? Let me know if you have anymore questions, and thanks for dropping by!
I hate hate hate cold calling. Cold emailing isn’t so bad because you don’t get the nasty response, at least not most of the time

I’ve had good luck using a combination of AdWords and Craiglist to pick up leads. Hate calling so much, and I’m not sure how I’d feel about hiring telemarketers to harass people for me.

I do have cold call experience also. The feeling was not good, but I learned how to take it ease when facing difficulties and failures.
Lead dogs seems to be a prettly slick company, and I also like their sense of humor. Glad I found your blog…do you also do other services aside from article writing…like transcription services?
Hi, thanks for asking about what I can do. I definitely can, and have, done transcription. I don’t own a transcription machine, but if the project is promising I’d be happy to get one.
I also do proofreading/editing, brochures, newsletters, and other marketing collateral. Feel free to contact me if you have a project in mind!
ugh.. i hate cold calling! i did not have a good experience..
