Anyone who knows me knows that I am extremely disorganized at home. I don’t have “a place for everything, and everything in its place,” though I desperately want to.
Business owners, whether at home or in an office, also need to maintain some sense of order so they can be productive.
Are labelmakers the answer? Maybe for some of us.
DYMO has labelmakers for all types of folk. There are several simple, “turn and click” designs that even children can work. These are probably best for household labeling, like food canisters, files, and drawers.
DYMO also has high-tech labelmakers for offices, including LabelWriters for printing. There’s also an easy way to get online stamps using DymoStamps for your postage needs.
How can labelmakers simplify your business? Perhaps you’re a freelance writer, and you send your clients a copy of their project on disk. DYMO has a DiscPainter that can turn your CD into a marketing tool.
Files and shelving space with clearly written labels make it easier to put everything where it goes, especially if you’re working out of your home. You can obviously make your own on your computer, but the labelmakers save you time by omitting several steps.
Check out DYMO’s website and take a look around. It’s easy to navigate, and it may give you some ideas for your business as it expands. Or you might find something handy for your home life.
Are you organizationally challenged like I am?

I remember labelmakers from when I was a kid, they were so much fun! We kids labeled everything in the house, the yard, at school, each other…
Many people NEED these things, they can’t find anything once they’ve tucked something away for later.

I am label obsessed! I could put a label on everything if people would let me.

I don’t have much of a dizorganization problem, but I guess I could use their cloth marking label maker to keep my towels and stuff from being ‘borrowed’ without consent.

even i m quite disorganised in life. labels r the only things that r constant in my life right now. nice stuff.
Theda, great post. I have been using a DiscPainter for a few months now and I have been very happy with the results. I can honestly say that it definitely has made me more organized.
My old method was burning stuff onto discs and labeling them with a marker. The trouble was that all of the discs looked the same and required a lot of hunting to find what I was looking for. I liken it to having a bow with all kinds of papers thrown in it in no particular order.
With the DiscPainter I label all my discs with a color code so I can immediately find tax records or recipes. I also label my discs with pictures so I can tell what’s inside at a glance.
I saw this on another site. I like how it can print postage too. My wife is in the market for both a label maker and a postage printing machine, so we may have just found what we need.
