Yahoo! Toolbar launched. Are they making a move?

You’ve probably heard that Microsoft wants to buy Yahoo!, which recently rejected Microsoft’s unsolicited bid.
So maybe that’s why Yahoo! is making some moves. I’m not a financial person, and I don’t keep up with the goings-on of big companies, so if you have any insight on the matter, let me know.
But what I do know is that Yahoo! has launched its new Yahoo! Toolbar, and they want people to try it out (here’s a handy link if you want to download the Yahoo! Toolbar). Apparently Yahoo! has a lot of the same things that Google does (again, I haven’t kept up with these things, so maybe it’s not news to you
). They even have a hosting plan, which I’m going to have to try the next time I need a new provider.
I was actually a Yahoo! person until recently, and now I use Google for everything. So I’m willing to give Yahoo! a try again, starting with their toolbar. It gives me quick access to my Yahoo! Groups, Yellow Pages, Personals (dating online isn’t a bad idea), and their search engine.
What do you think about the Yahoo! Toolbar and the other products? Will Yahoo! be able to compete with Google again? Will there soon be Yahoo! pagerank too?

Hmmm…. I don’t know but you definitely give us something to think about. Yahoo page rank… Sounds weird, doesn’t it?
Interesting post!
Pretty interesting i not totally convinced about Yahoo though
Well, since I only use Yahoo mail and Yahoo messenger, I’m not really interested in their other products!
As a search engine it interests me even less since not even 10% of my visitors that come from a search engine are from yahoo.
Though, I must admit that they might have a change against google. But yahoo pagerank? No way! This will be like copying google, and there’s no way that yahoo would so such a mistake! I think they’ll try to come up with something original.
Well, Microsoft may not be getting their hands on Yahoo anytime soon, if at all. As for Yahoo catching up with Google, that’s not on the cards either.
But regardless of the merits of their respective products, the most important reason to prefer Google over Yahoo is a question of trust. You can trust Google with your private information, but Yahoo has a habit of handing over all your data to whoever asks for it.
I do agree with timmy.i also use only yahoomail and yahoo messenger.Definitely yahoo will come up with some new ideas.
A few years ago, you could see where you ranked with yahoo.. but that went down.. it wasn’t exactly like page rank and you had to go to a certain yahoo page to view it.. but it was there. I use google for everything, I like the mail (it doesn’t seem as cluttered to me as yahoo mail).. Though both my girls (teens) support yahoo, over google.
I’m not much into watching these types of goings-on.. but this one has caught my eye and I have been keeping an eye on it. I’m curious if microsoft will do a hostile take over.. or if yahoo will save themselves.

I wish they would innovate instead of lingering in the shadow of google.
